Seniors Club April

Whittington Seniors Club

We are delighted that Carol and Derek Pope have kindly volunteered to take over from Rita Moir. in running the monthly Wednesday evening Whist sessions. These will commence on Wednesday 1st June in the Senior Citizens’ Hall; the cost will be £2.50 and will include tea/coffee and a biscuit or two; there will also be a raffle. Our very grateful thanks go to Carol and Derek. As yet no-one has come forward to make a commitment of organising a whist session on Monday afternoons.

The Annual General Meeting this year will take place on Tuesday 19th April at 2:00pm, please come along and put your point of view (if you have one of course), maybe you would like to join the committee! It is also time for your subscriptions, £10, to be paid; it would help enormously if we received these please prior to the end of May. Following on from the meeting we will be holding our Easter Tea at 3:00pm, the cost is £6.50 per person.

The next monthly lunch at the White Lion will be on Tuesday 26th April. These are held the fourth Tuesday each month and have to be booked in advance. The cost, currently £10 per person, includes a two-course meal and a cup of tea or coffee. I emphasise that once a lunch has been ordered it must be paid for, as the club will be expected to pay for it should you not turn up. Please contact ME on 01691 662236 if you wish to join us. Membership of the club is not a necessity for you to join us one month, though many people that do attend end up becoming a member of the club.

The weekly Thursday coffee mornings continue to be very popular allowing us to have a good natter and catch up; the same applies here, membership is not a requirement and we currently entertain circa 20 members and friends. When someone has a birthday, we enjoy cake and maybe a glass of something. Donations of biscuits, tea, coffee or milk are very welcome. We meet any time after 10:00am and finish when the person washing up starts collecting the mugs!

Steve Mason continues his line dance classes on Monday evenings between 7:30 – 9:00pm and the cost is £6 per session for upper beginner/improvers – call Steve on 07963662426 for further details. He is always prepared to welcome new dancers and those that may not have danced for some time.

Sonya holds Exercise Classes on Wednesday afternoons between 1:30 – 2:30pm , this is great fun and is open to all ages and capabilities; exercises can be done sitting on a chair or standing as the class progresses; come along and give it a go – just £4 a class.

Eleanor Moss holds junior ballet classes on Thursday after school has ended.

We need to find a venue for our Christmas lunch in December as I recently received a phone call informing me that the golf course had been sold and as a consequence our reservation is cancelled.
